Weirdness Wednesday; Embracing Your Weirdness!
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven… A time to cry and a time to laugh…” Ecclesiastes 3:1,4a, NLT (emphasis is mine).
Some days things are just weird. I usually feel as if I’ve fallen down the rabbit’s hole and gone to Wonderland… or is it Underland? Except, I’m not Alice, and this isn’t Wonderland. Still, sometimes I just like being weird and writing weirdness. It alleviates stress (for me anyway).
Through the years I’ve learned to embrace my weirdness. Although, growing up, it was what caused a lot of angst for me. I didn’t know how to process it. Therefore, it was often used against me because I wasn’t like other kids, nor did I enjoy, or want to be like them. I liked them just fine. In fact, I loved all my friends. I just didn’t want to do the same things they did and in that, I guess, was the rub. But… kids can be weird, too.
Some of my own cute, but weird, kids…
I often enjoy just being in my own world. I wrote about this a few years ago; feeling as if I was Alice “in a world of my own” where “nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t.” Hmm… maybe it doesn’t make sense to you. But to me, today, it does.
I often wonder if there must be a right way and a wrong way to be oneself? Maybe, maybe not. Today, I really don’t care. I’m me. You’re you. We are they. I enjoy doing the opposite. Just be myself. Just be yourself Confused? That’s okay. I, myself, stay that way most of the time.
Most of the time I walk through my days clueless. More than likely due to the fact that I usually don’t pay attention because I’m in my own little corner. Usually, I don’t mind that, either. I embrace my weirdness and I encourage you to embrace yours.
We are all weird. We are none alike.
Let me tell you a secret; we were created that way – all different. We are all of us different shapes, sizes, colors; we have different colored hair and eyes, some of us have no hair. Some of us have more hair than we know what to do with. We all have our own little quirks, idiosyncrasies, differences, whatever you want to call them. God created us all with a different look, personality, special skill, special talent, and we were designed that way on purpose, with a purpose, to fill a purpose.
And it’s okay!
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light…” 1 Peter 2:9, KJV (emphasis is mine).
The point is, God loves us all. We should embrace our weirdness and use it in whatever way we can, to serve Him and to tell others about Him. In saying that, today I am launching a new section of my blog: Weirdness Wednesday. Today’s episode is; Embracing Your Weirdness! It will include quirky little stories, poems, songs, sayings, useless information, and a conglomeration of whatever else I can find to entertain and tickle your funny bone… or mine. Mostly mine. You just get to eavesdrop in my weird little corner for a bit.
In a world where people are either stressed, depressed, or afraid, it will be nice to enjoy a little weirdness, maybe a giggle or two, if even for a few minutes.
Don’t you agree?
Share some of your weirdness with me!
