Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea… or rather, Coffee

This post was recently sent as the first in my new devotional email newsletter entitled, Coffee and Sunrise. You can subscribe by clicking the button at the end of this post.

Welcome, my friends!

You may have seen Coffee and Sunrise posts on my social media platform. Now, they are being privately sent via email subscription… as well as periodically being posted here. Just let me say, Coffee and Sunrise posts happen as I am inspired by the LORD. Whenever that happens, I must write. Writing is my job. It’s my calling; my ministry. So, if you’re reading this, thank you for following me over here. This is where we have more space and time… and a lot less chance of being censored or even deleted because of the Truth in which I am bold to share.

When you come to know Jesus, a huge change happens. Maybe you see it, maybe you don’t. But I guarantee, others do. What changed on the inside, shines on the outside. You can’t help it. You have just become a beacon of light… Jesus’ Light! In that, you have also become a target for the enemy of your soul: Satan, the devil, Lucifer (yes, this is his name).

While this may sound a little on the scary side to some, let me encourage you with this: even Jesus became a target. If you’ll read in Scripture, the entire time Jesus was growing up, He wasn’t bombarded with attacks from anyone, especially the devil. Why? Because He was protected and hidden. It wasn’t until Jesus was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, and then God declared, “This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased,” (Matthew 3:17). Right after that is when the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (see Matthew 4).

It’s the same with us. When we are not in relationship with Jesus, the devil has no reason to attack us, tempt us, or make us miserable. Even so, as a Christ follower, if we are not serving Jesus; ie; going to church, serving in ministry, singing in the worship band, or whatever it is God has called us to do (in my case, writing and speaking encouragement), the devil has no reason to poke, prod, or provoke.

HOWEVER! It is when we turn from those things, from our disobedience, our neglect, our selfishness (and it is selfish), the devil doesn’t like it and that’s when he begins picking and provoking. That’s when it seems as if all hell breaks loose over you, your family, friends, everything around you even. I know from experience. Sometimes it even seems as if we are going backwards instead of forward, although we know we are doing everything we know to do. Yet, things just seem to be falling apart.

Oh, my friends, may I just say that this is when everything is going right! You are right where you are supposed to be. You are winning! You can do nothing but win! How do I know? Because Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly,” (John 10:10, NKJV, emphasis added).

You may be wondering, how can I have an abundant life when all I’m experiencing is awful? Friend, because you know Jesus, you already have an abundant life, here and even in heaven. You can overcome everything thrown at you by the devil. And know this, the devil will use every devious, underhanded scheme he can to defeat you. But he is already defeated. He can’t win unless you allow it, because Jesus gave us victory and authority over the devil. So you wonder how in the world do we overcome? “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:5, NKJV) and, “…they overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” (Revelation 12:11, NKJV, emphasis added).

I said all of that to say this: because of your faith in Jesus, you won’t be everyone’s cup of tea… or rather, coffee. Things you say will make others angry. People you thought were friends will turn against you. Even family members will turn on you. But don’t be upset by it. Truly. You have become what God set you apart to become. You have become so much more than you know, so much more than others believe, and so much more than you allow yourself to be!

There are so many wonderful things God’s Word says about you and me! In my morning quiet time, reading the Word, talking with the Lord and listening to Him through worship and His Word, I have discovered so many truths! Although the enemy will twist God’s Word and try to get us to question it all, remember this: he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

You may be wondering, then why have you left social media? When I say don’t back down, I mean it. But we also know when to stand and when to move in another direction. This brings me almost full-circle to the reason I’m back here on this platform rather than Facebook or Instagram. Because of censorship and a few other, personal things which I cannot mention, I chose to detour to my email platform and get back here to my professional and ministry website and blog.

I have been neglecting the ministry God called me to when He healed me ten years ago. If you look at my previous website posts, you will see there hasn’t been anything written here in quite some time. Instead, most of my writings have been done on Facebook. But that wasn’t where I’m supposed to stay. God gave me this ministry and this website, and in my quest to find more… I walked away from what I had been given. Yes, it’s sad. However, because “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable,” (Romans 11:29), I have repented and turned 180° and therefore was inspired to move back over here and to inspirational newsletter emails. I also have more room and more freedom to speak the absolute Truth without my posts being deleted or censored. That’s not to say that some who receive these emails or links won’t delete them… and that’s okay. My point is that I am doing what I know I’m called to do.

In saying that, let me tell you I, myself, won’t be everyone’s cup of … coffee. But I must do what I’m called to do. And what, you might ask, is that? Let me explain:

God has called me to minister. Luke 4:18-19 has been my life verse since May 31, 2012 (the day after my healing). It states, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come,” (NLT).

What does that mean? I have been called to minister to those who suffer with depression, anxiety, low/no self-esteem, abuse; mental, emotional, and verbal. I am your Watchman (see Ezekiel 33). I’m here to bring you messages about the LORD, His goodness, His desire for a relationship with you, to heal you, to prosper you, and His good, good plans for you.

BUT…

When you are involved in something you shouldn’t be KNOW THIS: If you can’t say anything except, “Yeah, but…” or, “I heard… “ then I am not your cup of tea… or coffee. I’m not your person. I’m not here to argue. I have a job to do. I have a ministry to do, and I can’t spend my time arguing.

I will tell you the truth. I will tell you what God’s Word says. But I won’t debate or argue because, again, I have a job to do, and I have to be about my Father’s business. So, when you see messages from me, know that I have been in prayer and I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to bring that message to you. It may be something directly for you, or it may be for someone you may know, or someone else entirely. The Lord will tell us. But whatever is said, and whomever it is said for, please know that it is always said and meant in love. I am not here to grind an axe or make a point.

If you have stayed with me this far, thank you! And as a gift for you, please click the button below for a FREE downloadable prayer guide from my online store. All you have to do is follow the prompts and go through checkout to receive the download. It is all FREE! You will not be charged. Promise! All of my emails and posts won’t be this long… some will be so short you’ll wonder, ‘is that it?!’ But let me just say thank you for staying this long with me.

I also want to invite you to be a part of this ministry. If what you read in Coffee and Sunrise inspires or encourages you, please share it with others! You will be helping spread the Word and encouraging more people! And that’s what Jesus wants us to do! It only takes a couple of minutes for you to copy and paste the link, or to forward the message. Let’s work together to “go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone,” (Mark 16:15, NLT).

Until next time! Be blessed!
