Seasons

What season are you in? Okay, I get it… right now it’s December and it’s feeling like winter outside where I am today. But, I’m not talking about that kind of season. I want to know what season of life you are in at this moment. Are you in a season of abundance, loss, waiting, increase, blessing; in what season do you find yourself at this very moment?

For myself, personally, I am in a season of waiting. I’m waiting on the LORD. But don’t let that confuse you. Even though I’m waiting, don’t for one minute think the LORD is not working. He is. Don’t also think that I’m doing nothing. I am. There are many things going on while I wait. You see, some time back, God gave me a vision. It was a big vision. With that vision, with everything the Lord showed me, I immediately had a question:

How?

How, Lord, are we going to do this? He responded as ever so loving as He always does.

A little at a time.

You see, when God gave me this vision, my family and I were in a season of trials. Great trials, to be exact. I won’t go into detail about them. Just suffice it to say, we were all in some form of struggle, grief, and even a bit of devastation. We were wondering what was going on, what was God doing, why were these things happening? Oh, but He always comes through – and He does it quite larger than life!

We just have to trust Him and … wait.

“Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.” ~Psalm 37:7a (NKJV)

The thing is, God never says how long we must wait. And while we are waiting, of course, the enemy comes to try to knock us around a bit… or a lot. Oi! But in all that waiting and all that struggle, God sees, He hears, and He is working.

Although my husband, my kids, my grandkids, and myself were all in some form of struggle, trial, or transition; while we thought we had had enough, of course shortly after I received this vision from the Lord, more struggles hit. These are the kinds of things that made me set my jaw and squint my eyes in aggravation (incidentally, this was a “you poked the bear” moment for me) at the enemy. Oh yes, I absolutely knew it was enemy attack. It had to be, because when you set your mind on serving the Lord, the enemy sees that target light up and he is drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

But God is already on it, lovely ones. Though we go through the fires of trial and struggle, God is always with us, guiding us along the way. I’ve used myself and my family as examples, but I know we all go through… well… stuff.

Sometimes God uses those struggles to teach us something. Maybe, in your season of waiting, struggle, or maybe transition, He’s teaching you patience; how to wait on His timing. Maybe He’s using those struggles to teach you perseverance; how to keep going when you’d really like to quit. Maybe He’s allowing you to go through particular things in order to teach you how to handle them.

Whatever the case may be, the point is to use that time of waiting, or struggle, trial, or whatever it is that is in between one season and the next. We must use our time wisely to learn so we can grow. Oftentimes, those things we would rather avoid are the very things that are going to train us for what’s coming next. Rest assured, the Lord is always with us. He goes before us to prepare the way, and He is our read guard, protecting us as we learn.

“I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.” ~Psalm 40:1 (NKJV)

Whatever season you’re in, may it bring you right up to your new season in 2019. Stay the course, lovelies! We’re almost there!

Hugs!
