More Than Birds

As I sat on the porch looking out over the field, I watched as different birds flew around . It seemed as if they didn’t have a care in the world. They dipped and swooped in flight. Some of them flit back and forth. I began to notice the different varieties of birds around my home. Of course there were my chickens, pecking away in their pen. The brightly colored Bluebirds are back. It looks as if their nest may have babies because the daddy bird was holding a worm in his beak as he paused to perch across from me on my porch. The Purple Martins were chasing one another, dipping low to the ground. I know they were scooping up bugs. As I looked up, I noticed a couple of ducks flying overhead. All around me there were birds. I even have a sweet little Mockingbird. What a little jester he is!

As I sat watching all the antics of the bird circus I thought, those birds don’t have a care in the world, yet God takes care of them. It was then that I heard that soft Voice whisper, “How much more do I love you?” I answered out loud, “I’m worth more than a bird!” I felt the resounding “YES” in my heart.
Oh dear lovelies, do you know that you are worth more than the birds to God? As I sat and watched more of the birds’ antics, listening to them singing, I wondered how many of us go through life never knowing how much we’re loved by the Creator of the Universe!

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? ~Matthew 6:26, NLT

We all have ups and downs in our lives. Sometimes the downs try to overtake us and quite often many of us find ourselves stuck in the downs and swallowed by the pit of despair, depression, loneliness, and many other things. Before long, we’re so stuck in the muck and mire of the pit, we can’t climb out because the sides are so slimy we slide back down. We may begin to think not even God cares about where we are and it’s our destiny to be stuck here. NOT TRUE!

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. ~Psalm 40:2, NIV

Lovelies, if God sent Jesus to die for us, don’t you think you’re worth much more than those beautiful birds flying around the yard? Of course you are! Many people will try to tell you that your situation is your own fault, or that your circumstances are the result of genetics or that it’s hereditary. Baloney!
We are more than conquerors, dear ones. God’s Word is filled with promises just for us. All we have to do is accept them and walk in truth. We may hear many facts during our lives, but none of them can hold a candle to the Truth. Jesus is the truth and He is much greater than any fact.

The fact is that God loves the birds…but the truth is, He loves us even more.
