Building Up

Every day we are presented with opportunities to show the love of Jesus; to tell others about Him and what He has done for us. This can happen in many different, often unique ways. For instance, when God healed me of the many years of depression and anxiety I suffered, He called me to minister to others in the same way. Hence, Walking Healed Ministries was built from that healing.

One of the highest honors is to get to minister to someone and watch as the Lord heals them and begins to work in their life… then, to see them begin to work and serve and help others as they have been blessed. That’s our assignment from the Lord; to encourage and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11), heal the sick (Luke 10:9), even to give as freely as [we] have received (Matthew 10:8)!

Merideth and Shelley

Today, I want to share such a blessing with you. A couple of years ago, while teaching the Walking Healed Bible study, I met Merideth. Merideth came to my class via the suggestion of a sweet, saint. I won’t go into detail about her, but I will say, when Merideth came to me, she was broken, hurt, and in need of encouragement and healing.

During our time together, I was privileged to get to watch her learn, as the LORD ministered to her, ultimately healing her from years of hurts and various things that were hindering her life journey. I was doubly honored to get to pray with her as she received the Holy Spirit into her life. Since that time, I have watched Merideth grow in the LORD, serve Him by loving on others and serving not only in church, but she is also on the Walking Healed Ministries Board of Directors.

A double blessing; Merideth was baptized on her birthday!

One of the sweetest privileges, however, in my relationship with Merideth, was to stand, front row, to support her by watching her outward expression of the inward change by being baptized. It was such a special time getting to witness this event; not only because she serves at church or because she serves on the WHM Board of Directors, it’s much more than that. It’s even more than friendship.

Merideth is my Spiritual Daughter.

You see, when we come to know Jesus and then receive His Holy Spirit, so much more happens than just receiving eternal life. He helps us. He frees us from disease, hurts, pains, years of worldly junk, and much more. He also places people in our lives to walk this journey with us, encouraging us, loving us, and helping us with… well… LIFE!

Below is what transpired after the following statement:

“Upon the profession of your faith, and in accordance with Matthew 28:19 which says, “Go ye into all the world, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which was fulfilled in the Book of Acts, I now Baptize you in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

What a beautiful event!
I didn’t mind getting wet for this hug!

This is what it’s all about, folks. Let Jesus be Lord of your life, then go out and serve Him by loving on and ministering to others. Build each other up, as Christ has built you up. Give as freely as you have been given. Heal others as you have been healed. It’s our mission. It’s our calling. Not only in our personal lives, but in church, and in Walking Healed Ministries.
